Vision
Mt. Pleasant Education and Development Corp. (MPEDC) will become a model neighborhood outreach and solutions center which is characterized by signature education and economic development programs, a broad reaching faith-based community organization referral network, a trained and invested team of staff and community partners, and active engagement with its City, County, State and federal representatives.
Mission
Mt. Pleasant EDC’s mission is to provide practical and effective, self-sustaining options to families living in its target area; to strengthen and expand Kansas City Freedom Schools Initiative (KCFSI) to provide complete and competitive year round after school learning environments; to empower families through financial mobility and literacy resources; to strengthen the Real Estate Crisis & Counseling Center Initiative which provides foreclosure purchase and leaseback options along with mental health and financial management education to families which are coping with the economic challenges; and to facilitate a resurgence of neighborhood pride.
Planned SAFE Outreach Services include:
- Senior Citizen meal table & recreation site
- After School tutoring and computer applications
- Family focused Service Learning and Activities Center
- Economic Enterprise Business Operations Workshops
